For someone you love

How far would you go for someone you love? Would you give your life for them? Would you take someone else’s life for them? If you do, is that still love or just a selfish and greedy unnamed feeling you have for someone?

Today evening, my mother was watching Crime Patrol, a TV series on real life crime, I also sat down with her to watch as it seemed intriguing.

Here’s what happened-In Surat, Gujarat an around 18 year old girl, she planned a kidnapping of her 11 year old cousin brother. As planned, he was kidnapped, his thumb was cut off and sent to the family 😦 and were asked for ransom of Rs.3 crore. Later, she devised a plan to attack on her brother with a knife, the innocent 11 year old. Fortunately, later he survived and she was found guilty. In Surat, Gujrat,

The reason-because she was in love with a lower middle class boy and she knew her family would not approve of it as he doesn’t earn much. She wanted  him to get more money and apparently, there was no other way than to kidnap your own brother.

Is this love?, I ask. You are taking someone else’s life away for the one you love. Is it love? Isn’t love a mutually beneficial relationship like those of lichen and Mycorhizza? (okay, that’s a sick joke, I agree) Yes, being in love gives you happiness, but at the cost of someone else’s life? Your younger brother’s life? That’s sick!

Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful.

-Landon, A Walk to remember (2002)

I ask you again, how far would you go for someone you love?
